Not just encouragement but being admonish is key for any relationship. We need to remind ourselves when we are being admonished by others. Those are righteous people that God has put in our lives to correct us, to bring us to the right path. Not out of anger but out of love, concern, and kindness. So that we can grow in our spiritual maturity.
